Club Tour to York 2007

The sun was just about to show itself as Barnwood Bowlers arrived at the club to make their way to York for the annual Club Tour, a slight delay ensued whilst we waited for a bowler who had left her hand bag at home. With the coach packed and all on board it was off we went. The journey went well with only slight hold ups at varying well known black spots on the Motorway. We arrived at the services slightly behind time for a quick breakfast and then on to the Tour Headquarters for our stay, The Wheatlands Lodge Hotel, where our rooms were ready and a welcoming Tea & Coffee with a variety of sandwiches awaited us all. I might mention the bar was open and soon the barman found himself under pressure. However there was no time to waste as we are on a bowling tour, Copmanthorpe BC awaited 5 mixed rinks and a further 5 rinks went to Poppleton BC. No one could believe the weather the Sun was shining and all thought summer had arrived at last with temperatures in the mid seventies as we headed off to our designated venues.
