Gala Day - Monday 7th May 2012

1st Eagles
2nd Silver Surfers
3rd Rascals
4th Final Four27 Teams took part. The whole day was dogged by the weather but the first four rounds were successfully completed before torrential rain eventually stopped play. A quick check of the results up to that point resolved the placings above.

Open Day Saturday 5th May 2012
The session was well attended by almost 30 eager participants and was a great success despite the cold weather with people of all ages having a go.






Opening of the Green - Tuesday 17th April



After the Club President opened the Green 40 Members enjoyed several ends in the cold while 20 + members decided to open the bar instead. The green was pretty fast for this time of the season and swinging nicely. St Patrick's Day Saturday 17 March
55 Members & Friends enjoyed a St. Patrick's Day Evening at the club.
A meal of 'Irish Stew' followed by apple crumble was served and enjoyed by all.
The President, aka 'Jethro', entertained everyone with some really funny complementary jokes.

55 Members & Friends enjoyed an End of Year Dinner/Dance at the club. Dancing to Stardust Disco and 'Elvis'. Champagne was served at midnight. Ladies Dinner on 9 Dec 2011

21 Ladies were entertained at the club. After a sherry reception, a welcome and thanks from the President, they enjoyed a sumptious 4 course meal, cooked by our own Ramseys - Pat and George - with wine and served by ‘Dicky-bowed’ waiters. Afterwards, the men were thanked by the Ladies Captain, Shirley, and also by the President. Following coffee and mints they then enjoyed a general chat and laugh which was punctuated by Dave Milner with his Elvis impressions. Club AGM on Thursday 24 November 2011

Our “Pink” Day on Tour at Parade BC, Eastbourne, in aid of a Cancer Charity raised £620 with all members contributing through 2 Spiders on the day, raffles and individual donations. GBA County Cup Final 28th Aug 2011
After winning the semi-final against Cotswold in the morning Barnwood lost the Final on all 3 rinks, finishing as runners-up, to Cheltenham who have now won the Cup for 5 years in succession. ...photo gallery
R&M Taylor Pairs Sat 6th Aug 2011
Played as an internal Open Pairs competition, under Australian Rules, and involving four 5 end matches over the afternoon. The winners were Ken Ferson and Brian Walden with Roger Bird and David Milner as the runners-up. ...photo gallery

This match was played between Eddie Kavanagh from Tewkesbury BC and Nick Holliday from Cheltenham, at Barnwood BC, with Nick winning through to the County Finals.
GBA v Wiltshire - Middleton Cup 18 June 2011
Barnwood hosted the GBA Middleton Cup match v Wiltshire. It was a very close finish with GBA winning by 125 shots to 123 but the points score was 17 to 5. ...photo gallery

GBA v Bowls Dorset - Middleton Cup 11 June 2011
Barnwood was the venue for this Middleton Cup Match. Although the weather at the start was cold and very wet it was a close and competitive match throughout with GBA opening this year's campaign with a win by 8 shots and 17 points to 5. Rich Browett of Barnwood made his Middleton Cup debut in this match. ...photo gallery
GBA u25 v Wilts BA u25 Top 2 Fours 22 May
Barnwood again played hosts to the GBA for the u25s to play this 2 rink game. It was a close and thrilling match with GBA taking an early advantage but Wilts fought back to win by 3 shots although both teams won 1 rink. ...photo gallery
GBA v Hereford BA 17 May & GBA v Norfolk BA Tour 18 May

Glos BA played 2 matches at Barnwood on consecutive days.
The first was the annual Hooker Cup match v Hereford which was narrowly lost by 97 shots to 103. The second v Norfolk Tourists, featuring John Ottaway, was also lost by 100 shots to 122.Bideford Victoria Tour to Barnwood BC on 13 May 2011
After a pre-match buffet a highly competitive game over 7 rinks against Bideford Victoria Tourists was lost by 106 shots to 119. BV also won all the raffle prizes! After the game all enjoyed the friendly and social side of the sport. ...photo gallery

Gloucestershire won a highly competitive game, at Barnwood BC, against Leicestershire by 90 shots to 82.
